With the success of Ghosts, NIN’s all instrumental 4-cd album, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is continuing the experiment to video. A YouTube channel has been created where anyone can create visuals accompanying any album track. Essentially, fans are free to create a music video and post it on YouTube. After a few months, the best ones will highlighted by Reznor himself.
Making your own music videos isn’t new. YouTube and other video sites are full with user created music videos. This announcement is important because it is legal. Ghosts is licensed under Creative Commons, meaning people are free to share, copy, distribute, and remix the songs any way they want as long its not for a profit. Having an official YouTube channel is just an extension of it.
